What recent guests emphasize

Characterful vintage suites near transit

Visitors appreciate the spacious self-catering apartments full of 1920s charm, convenient proximity to the SkyTrain, and friendly, responsive hosts. The hotel offers great value but the historic setting includes quirks that may not suit all tastes or light sleepers.

Guests often praise

  • Spacious suites with vintage décor and period features including clawfoot tubs and old-style elevators
  • Convenient location just steps from New Westminster Station and nearby shops and restaurants
  • Friendly, accommodating staff and responsive hosts who enhance the stay
  • Fully equipped kitchens in the suites, ideal for self-catering
  • Complimentary touches such as a bottle of wine on arrival

Worth knowing

  • The building is historic and rustic, which may not appeal to those expecting a modern hotel experience
  • Proximity to the SkyTrain means some noise is noticeable around the clock, potentially disruptive for light sleepers
  • The pull-out bed is considered less comfortable by some guests
  • The hotel’s vintage elevator and quirks add charm but require consideration for accessibility or convenience
  • Guests should bring their own cooking essentials for the kitchen, as supplies may be minimal

Best for

  • Travelers interested in historic buildings and 1920s architectural charm
  • Visitors looking for affordable self-catering accommodations with more living space than typical hotel rooms
  • Guests valuing easy access to public transit and nearby shopping options
  • LGBTQ+ travelers seeking a welcoming and inclusive environment
  • Those who appreciate unique, character-filled stays over modern, generic hotels

About this property

Welcome to Arundel Mansions Hotel

Housed in a 1912 Craftsman-style building, Arundel Mansions Hotel offers self-catering suites that combine period features with modern conveniences such as free WiFi. The interiors reflect the vintage character of the property, with spacious layouts including kitchens and clawfoot tubs, appealing to guests interested in historic charm over modern minimalism. Some reviewers note the presence of original woodwork and unique features like an old-timey elevator, highlighting its distinctive character.

Located just steps from New Westminster Station, this hotel is convenient for visitors relying on public transit. Several restaurants, shops, and the River Market mall lie within easy walking distance, while nearby parks and waterfront areas offer outdoor leisure options. The hotel’s proximity to Vancouver International Airport and other transport hubs makes it a practical choice for travelers looking to explore the broader region.

Guests appreciate the value offered by the suites, praising the spaciousness and the availability of kitchen facilities, which support longer stays or those preferring self-catering options. The property is recognized as LGBTQ+ friendly, welcoming a diverse crowd. Some notes highlight that the nearby skytrain can be audible and might affect light sleepers, but the sound was not an issue for others.

The overall impression from guest reviews is positive, with many commending the accommodating staff and the blend of vintage atmosphere with practical amenities. However, the retro style and aged features may not suit everyone’s taste, especially those expecting a standard hotel environment. It is recommended for visitors seeking a unique, character-filled stay in a well-connected area of New Westminster.

Staff was kind & accommodating. Rooms are spacious, fully stocked & adorable but the pull out bed is pretty sad. So convenient to be right beside the train station but loud (felt like white noise to me but could really bother some people). Everything you need within 10 mins of walking distance. Would stay again for sure

Arundel Mansions is a cool hotel. We stayed on a recommendation from family and enjoyed it. The building was built in the 1920s and has an old-timey elevator which we thought was cool. The apartments are very spacious. Ours had a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and large living room area, large windows and a claw foot tub.Everything was decorated vintage! Staying here is a must for anyone interested in vintage 1920s aesthetics, or for those who just want more living space. We met the owner who shared some great stories about the building. Overall the staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.

Funky and old, but delightful. NOT your usual generic hotel. Worth every penny to the right people. Not bright and new and shiny, but loaded with character, personalty, and aged comfort. Easy access to the Sky Train. Bring what you need if you're planning to cook. Loved it.

I've stayed here a number of times and can vouch for responsive hosts and great value. I've stayed in different suites and love the decor and the charm and character each suite offers. I like the proximity to the skytrain station, grocery store, and pharmacy. I also appreciate having access to a kitchen. I'm very fond of this place and hope to continue to visit.

The wife and I stayed here in Nov 2025 and absolutely loved it! Way better than your typical cookie cutter hotel room, we had our own little apartment time capsule for the weekend. Not for everyone, as I'm sure some would not appreciate it's rustic charms, but for us it was perfect! We live in a 1920s character home, so this place with all it's original woodwork and quirks felt like home. Proximity to the sky train station was convenient and there were a good number restaurants and a grocery store within easy walking distance. The price was beyond reasonable and the staff were responsive. We look forward to staying here again in the future. The old elevator with manually operated doors and the complimentary bottle of wine as a welcome gift were nice touches. Of note, the sky train runs very close to the building. Not an issue for us, but if you are a light sleeper it may be a problem for you.

I stayed here for 2 nights, and I loved it. This hotel is an awesome, old building. The "room" is huge, basically a one bedroom apartment. Lots of extra space along with the full kitchen. Great value for what you pay to stay per night. The location is good, close to the train and lots of places to eat at and shop at. Bed is very comfortable, and the complimentary bottle of wine is a nice touch.

Its proximity to the metro and shops is very convenient, and I will surely visit again. I’m glad to have stayed in a 100-year-old building—so many memories are made here. Plus its really spacioussss!!!!!
